It means that basically every one of us can do real 'big picture' social studies on literature in an instant.
Now take this one step further and imagine if we could open up (non personal) government or medical-data like this. Boom. Millions of possibilites, millions of people that can help, millions of awesome use cases. This opens a world that is about 10 times more awesome than we can even grasp.
